Quotation Process

The quotation process can vary from project to project. We always have one goal in mind and that is how can we use our expertise & experience to make your system more cost-effective. Often at quotation stage the information we receive within the Specifications and fire strategies asks for extras to BS9251 that you might not be aware of. Although some extras are a great addition to BS9251, some are just not cost effective.

Common extras that cause your system to cost you more:

  • Architects designing additional sprinkler heads on the reflective ceiling plan for aesthetics purposes only. Not only is this more expensive for you, they are sometimes non-compliant to BS9251:2014. We will always quote our head locations as per BS9251.
  • Valve sets per apartment. (BS9251 recommends a valve set per floor.)
  • Monitored isolation valves.
  • Self pumping valves sets.

Design Process

Once we have received your official order, your project will be passed on to our design team. Your dedicated designer will guide you through the process and agree all handover dates. All handover dates, RFI’s and approvals can be remotely monitored in our custom CRM system.

Included within our designs:

  • F.O.C onsite design workshops, as many as the project needs.
  • Dedicated technical support.
  • Canute Soft Hydraulics calculations.
  • RCP review Technical support with water supply requirements.
  • All our sprinkler designs are carried out in accordance with BS9251:2014 with supporting documentation. We carry out all our designs on AutoCAD:2020.

Sprinkler Installation

We have a large network of fully trained engineers and office support staff, all directly employed by Fire Fighter 24/7 and ready to assist with your every need regarding your project. All our site supervisors are SSSTS carded and all installers have obtained CPVC sprinkler training. Non-working supervisors can be provided on large developments if required. Throughout the installation process all snags, Q&A’s, floor sign offs and test certificates will be monitored and tracked using our custom CRM software.

Commissioning

On completion of the installation, a full flow test and signal test for the alarms will be carried out to ensure the system compares with the design calculations. This ensures full compliance with the design and the relevant standards. We will then provide ‘as fitted’ drawings and a commissioning certificate for Building Control. These will form part of the O&M manual and/or user’s guide.

Maintenance

Sprinklers should be inspected and tested yearly as a requirement of the British Standard, to ensure the system functions correctly. Any problems found need to be rectified immediately as any problems can be very serious in the event of a fire.
