What Are Dry Riser Systems?
Dry risers are an essential part of fire safety in larger buildings. Dry risers are used to supply water within buildings for fire-fighting purposes. These are generally found in properties over 18m tall and consist of a network of pipes that allow water to be delivered to the upper floors. Dry risers have an inlet connector at ground level and landing valves at locations on each floor. Dry risers do not contain water when they are not being used, but are charged with water by the fire services. Part B building regulations require dry risers are provided in buildings that are over 18m tall. Each inlet location must be within 18m of a fire service appliance access.
Dry Riser Regulations
Building regulations state that dry riser installations are mandatory in buildings with floors over 18m in height, although many buildings with 3 floors or more can require a dry riser system.
All our Dry Riser installations are in accordance with BS9990:2015.

Maintenance
Dry risers should be inspected and tested yearly to ensure the system functions correctly. Any problems found need to be rectified immediately as any problems can be very serious in the event of a fire.
